I finally got round to editing a short film, based on a photographic project that I took part in at Siobhan Davies studios. Really loved this site-specific walk as dance event. It elegantly looped and navigated its way around the studio space, taking in internal stair-cases and external fire exit. There was great interaction with the performers as you literally moved and breathed with them around the space. I hope to use this mode of exploring space in a film project that I'm currently working on at Latymer Project space. You can catch the choreographer, Matthias Sperling talking about how the work was conceived and constructed.

It's a great photographic experience being part of Still Moving and Your Move at Siobhan Davies Dance.
Big Dance 2012 is accumulating a database of photos that celebrates the diversity of movement in our lives. Why don't you take part? I have a selection of photos from my Vinyl Replay project, spinning vinyl in public and private. Still Moving also allows us to work with established dance photographer Pari Naderi. The course includes group sessions, mentoring, and photoshoot opportunities. We've just been photographing the rehearsals of The Bridge by Janine Harrington. Looking forward to this large scale interactive choreography that takes place across the length of the Millennium Bridge on the 23rd June 2012 from 2-8pm. Fingers crossed for the weather. This is my first visit to Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. It's a resplendent building framed by sculptural green edges next to the River Thames. I'm a reasonably experienced photographer, but it's still a challenge to capture the heart and soul of dance and dancers. Not having access to a digital SLR, I'm working around the Canon G9 and utilising some of the techniques (long exposure, moving camera) used for Vinyl Replay. |
